Biography
- Respighi was a multi-talented musician who became fluent and read literature in eleven languages!
- In his piece The Pines of Rome, he became the first major composer to require a phonograph recording, specifically of a singing nightingale bird, to be played on stage with the orchestra.
- He wrote a famous set of 3 pieces called Ancient Airs and Dances that were based on lute (similar to guitar) music from the 1500s.
